Protector/Guardian

I'm curious about the difference between a Protector, a Guardian, and an Administrator? And how do you become one?

From the AHS MEMBER GUIDELINES Version 2.13
:

"This topic covers the powers of administrators and moderators. The purpose of this topic was to clarify what an admin and a mod should and should not do.

An admin can:

1. Change the forum settings
2. Ban members (after a staff council)
3. Grant moderation/administration powers
4. Use the [FN] code
5. Close, move, edit and delete posts without prior warning (he/she will have to explain afterwards if being asked)
7. Change this rule at anytime (Must seek permission from other admins and majority of votes by initiates).

An admin cannot:

1. Order anyone in the forum around (he/she can only ask for help)
2. Ban a person, change forum settings and grant anyone powers without group decision.
3. Ask for a donation drive. All donations must be done voluntary.

A Mod can:

1. Move, delete, edit and close threads without prior warning (he/she must explain afterwards if being asked)
2. Request assistance from admins
3. Report situation on the forum to admins using any available methods.

A Mod cannot:

1. Ordering initiates around. (He/she can only ask for help)
2. Ask for a donation drive. All donations must be done voluntarily.
"

This explain the difference between admins and mods. Protectors are regular mod (me, EdenZone and mimika). We can edit posts, move threads, change thread's names, avoid fights and problems, close threads, give warnings/advices and we have access to the staff room where we can discuss many problems and suggestions.
The Guardians (nmskalmn, Grantith)are mods who quite got some of the admin powers, they can do all the protectors duties plus they have access to the admin's room and they can do other things. They still have to focus more on their moderating duties.

I might not be 100% right but I hope this helps.

For new mods, first new mods we'll be needed according to the demand of more help with the staff. Right now I think there's enough people already. New mods will be added first by making a nomination thread where the initiates name people they think could do a good job on the staff. After that the staff sets up an interview with the nominated people and choose a few they think are the most suited for the job and starts a voting poll.

Uh...thats interesting..Because that didn't happen with me..Someone made a post in my username called IMO on the chat boards..I asked who did it but no admin or mod responded and why my post was chopped from the thread which mention 'IMO'. As I didn't see it was that important to make a whole new thread on it.

Grantith 26th August 2003 04:11 PM

The "IMO" comment was really off topic from the rest of the thread, so I split it and gave it its own topic to make it neater. I didn't make a post under your username, I just moved it into its own topic. People go to certain topics to read about the subject in the title, not about off topic stuff.

Sorry for not responding in that topic, I never saw your post.

No worries! ^_^ I'm not at all bothered by it..just wondering about it.

I don't recall seeing that post either. If anyone is concerned about something like this I suggest contacting a moderator by pm or email. You will probably get a faster response that way.
