Jpop starlets Ai Kawashima and Minami Kizuki will both be performing next weekend in New York City to celebrate Sakura Matsuri at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. Minami Kizuki will perform at 4:15pm and Ai Kawashima will perform at 5:15 on both Saturday, May 2, and Sunday, May 3. Minami Kizuki is a 19-year old new star on the Pony Canyon record label with a powerful voice. Her latest single (pictured) is a double release — “Dareka No Tame Ni / Wasurena Gusa” (誰カノタメニ / ワスレナグサ). Ai Kawashima will be making a live appearance at Kinokuniya Bookstore Friday afternoon before the Cherry Blossom Festival.

This is the 28th annual Sakura Matsuri celebration in New York City. Over 50 events and performances are planned to celebrate Japanese culture and the blossoming of Brooklyn Botanical Garden’s 220 cherry trees. The full schedule of events is below!

As mentioned, Ai Kawashima will also be making a special appearance 5:30pm, Friday, May 1, at Kinokuniya Bookstore. Come earlier for the 4pm screening of “One Piece: The Desert Princess and the Pirates - Adventure in Alabasta” (Whoa. That’s a long title.) Ai Kawashima is the voice of Mayday and sings the film’s ending theme. “One Piece” is being shown courtesy of FUNimation. Thanks to Samurai Beat Radio and New York Anime Festival for making this happen. Kinokuniya is located at 1073 Avenue of the Americas (Bet. 40th and 41st St) in New York City.
