have you ever "fallen out of love" with ayu?

i am at a point right now where i am not impressed with ayu anymore. i don't hate her, i just don't feel the same way i used to about her.. i haven't really LOVED one of her songs since the beginning of 2008 and every time i see a live performance now i wince. i don't look forward to releases like i used to. on top of that i don't like her style now. :( maybe a break from ayu would be best.

have you ever felt like this with ayu?

:no NO BASHING AYU in this topic :no

neuteka 21st May 2009 06:12 AM

well, the closest thing to that was when I really really started to like namie amuro last month. I listened to namie a lot, but not ayu that much. Now I listen to them about the same.

there was already a thread like this
http://www.ahsforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=81123
the most common cure for this is a break, and if that doesn't work then you can kiss your fandom goodbye :yes

to answer your question, i have, yes. but a break was the solution.
what really got me back into loving her, besides her music, was reading a lot of her TA messages and reading all of the things she has to say, and of course her lyrics. it was so hard not to fall back in love with her. her spirit and genuine love for her fans.. is just.. wow.

Kingdom 21st May 2009 06:15 AM

it's not just her music though it's everything about her. but thanks for the link i was wondering where that topic went

truehappiness 21st May 2009 06:19 AM

Just don't pay attention to her for a while.

I never lost my love for her, but I've had times where I just wasn't that interested in what she was doing and thankfully those were during her downtimes..

Usually by the time she releases something new, a fever comes back and I get all jittery again.

hmmm, i don't think i've "fallen out of love" with Ayu since she's my ichiban. she's the reason why i got into j-pop! i've been a loyal follower since first hearing her music back in 2002/2003.

but i think the worst "dry spell" was around late 2005 to late 2006 (so for a year), after the release of "(miss)understood". i wasn't feeling "Startin'/Born To Be...", as well as "BLUE BIRD" singles. and KAT-TUN made their debut that year so i pretty much ignored Ayu for that period of time. LMAO. :laugh

but, as messy & rushed as "Secret" was, i thought it was amazing. it totally revived my love for Ayu.

i may not be so fangirly over Ayu nowadays. i haven't been since "Secret", tbh. but i appreciate her so much! nothing, not even KAT-TUN (but they touch the lines sometimes 8D), could match up with Ayumi Hamasaki in my book. she's one of those artists i could never hate or dislike no matter what they do.

I dont like the terminology 'falling out of love' with ayu...its more like taking a break from her. Right now, she's on tour, no real huge announcements so I cant really say I'm excited about every single news related to her, but I AM anticipating any future releases. She's still 2nd favorite in my book and strongly holds that position. Also, Ive only discovered Ayumi around fall of 08 so theres still ALOT of Ayu that I havent fallen in love with yet. Even some of her old stuff surprises me.

you guys can post in the thread that identity linked. :yes this should be locked cuz it already exists!

I just listened to the album Duty this morning after a long break from her and I kinda miss the ayu-feeling. These past few days I'm in love with Ryuichi, Laruku, X Japan and many more that I forgot to listen to ayu. But now I'm back.

Yeah. I think it it happens with everybody and with your favorite artists. I actually had time like this with Kuu, 'cause I'm her fan since 2003. When she released 2nd session I didn't really liked it back then and didn't even bought it and singles from it. However now it's one of my favorite albums of her. I'm Ayu fan only two years+ and I'm pretty crazy about her and her music now.:luv2
Oh, and I'm still Ultimate Kuu fan.:D

EDIT: And I'm actually never "fallen out of love" with Kuu. Just didn't listened to her new stuff at that time for a few months but was always listening to her old stuff. I think it might happens, 'cause many artists is tend to change, but not all fans can accept it. I think that is awesome that they are always changing!

Pretty much after i left AHS at the end of 2005 right up to 2007 I didn't listen to her much.

I didn't have internet and couldn't find new bands/get songs etc and I simply got bored because I was an isolated fan with nobody to motivate me in fandom. :(

I got my own computer in 2008 and started to come back and got into her again. I bought GUILTY and Secret randomly before coming back for nostalgia purposes, but AHS really helps me be a "fan" of Ayu :yes

C+R+E+AYUMI 21st May 2009 11:55 AM

never lost my love even sometimes i listen to Mika Nakashima or Namie Amuro albums..
perhaps I don't feel the same emotions about her lyrics...I found her latest too repeatitive...

*too lazy to go to the new thread and waits for merge*

not...really...in a way....I mean, I love Ayu, and I'm always really excited to see her concerts...

that being said, I don't care for a lot of her music anymore, and her vocals are kinda ehh...but I've always kinda let her vocals go...even though I do miss the days when she would sing really nicely live.

this actually hasn't happened for me with any other artist besides ayu...I'm always one to love some stuff and not others...but up until GUILTY, I LOVED everything Ayu had put out...and I still love everything up to that point...after that...it's kinda like...boring, with a few nice songs.

I just think her music really...went downhill in terms of it's actual "music"...that's why I don't listen to her as much anymore...but I still love her.

She's just kind of like...a special artist for me now...I have to excuse a lot more than I would for other people...but it doesn't bother me at all like it does when I have to do it for others...so in many ways, I'm biased towards her.

Kobayashiwoof 21st May 2009 12:42 PM

I haven't liked any of Ayumi's stuff for years.

It's a normal thing, you shouldn't feel bad because you don't like her music no-more.

No even a 'break' could cure it.

*Petit* 21st May 2009 01:04 PM

I have found every release of hers interesting in some way or another since I got into her around the release of moments. The only time I had to take a break was around B&D/P because I didn't like any on the songs on the single. :( It depends on the songs she releases, and ayu almost never disappoints me. It's strange because I'm not a vry loyal person in terms of which artists I buy stuff from. If I don't like the music, I don't listen to it or buy it.

Minttulatte 21st May 2009 01:59 PM

I don't love Ayu almost at all anymore. Sometimes I get these strange "I LOVE U AYU" feelings but those will only last for two days, possibly a week ahead.

My love for Ayu's music began fading in 2007 because of glitter/fated. I really didn't like fated that much. To me it sounded so boring at first. When she released talkin' 2 myself and Together When I was so thrilled about her and listened to her music a lot for two months. When she released GUILTY I noticed that something was seriously wrong. :/ I didn't really love (Don't) leave me alone that much at first but still the album became my favourite for a while. But after that my love began fade again and I really haven't been listening to Ayu so much for a year now (with this I mean a six months long Ayu period. There's no such thing anymore.). And NEXT LEVEL actually made it worse. I still don't like it so much. Something's bothering me. Her live voice is bothering me. Her style is bothering me. Everything about Ayu bothers me. :D

I think I should stop listening to Ayu completely cause I'm not even interested in anything she does or releases nowadays anymore. I realized this yesterday so I'm gonna stop lying to myself. And then there's also the fact that I think I've never even really loved Ayu as much as some of you have (which is very amazing, good for you. ^^b).

I'm gonna go listening to my queens Kuu and Namie now. ->

aloopy 21st May 2009 02:10 PM

i wouldn't call it falling out of love. more like losing interest.
right now i'm kinda on an Ayu break just because she's not doing anything interesting and i'm tired of NEXT LEVEL already
but Ayu will probably be my favorite artist no matter how bored i get of her.

thank god for Namie & Kuu. if it weren't for them i would be listening to like.. utada now!:no

noidea 21st May 2009 02:19 PM

Im not falling out of love and I dont think I will ever fall out of love with ayu, if i were an old fan, i might have some problems now because NEXT LEVEL bores me ATM, but im starting to like her old songs in the meantime(still alone, I Am..., Connected, well, basically all the I Am... album + a few songs from Duty and A Song for XX), same goes for her tour, but i started to like it more after the videos and information about the screens came up I might fall out of love if she takes a break longer than 3 months, otherwise, the only possible way id fall out of love would be ayu going HipHop, i wouldnt just fall out of love, id probably going to hate her new releases, I love her for the style she had from Duty-GUILTY(she had dark songs in every album, thats the kind of songs i like) and her lyrics, if one or both change COMPLETELy its not ayu anymore for me

SolarAngel 21st May 2009 04:51 PM

Guilty and Next Level didn't do it for me like all the other albums did, and i really don't look her live performances where she goes overboard with the act-cute shtick. Other than that, i've never at any point considered stopping to support ayu and will continue to buy all her albums in the forseeable future.
