I think she looks a bit like Avril Lavigne in the first pic. And I've heard of her and stuff, and I thought she is really brave to sing Japanese when she isn't Japanese in any way, and I admire her. ^^ I'm going to check out her songs, thx! |

Introducing HIMEKA, a French-Canadian singer in Japan.
I was actually very surprised to see a Quebecoise
singing the new OP of the anime adaptation of Valkyria Chronicles. That's actually a game I had liked to play ^^ Her name is HIMEKA (http://6109.jp/himeka/). She is 27 year old and is of French-Canadian decent. In 2008, she won the Animax Anison Grand Prix in Japan. Now, she is signed with Sony Music. Although she is still learning Japanese, her pronunciation is wonderful! People even thought the artist was a Japanese girl when they first heard it. It's harder for her to speak for interviews, but I am sure she will improve. I think it's very wonderful to see someone from Canada (Especially Quebec!!) singing and representing in Japan! Oh yeah, I listened to this already. She's good, but not to my liking. I'm interested in her future releases though, she might surprise me!

HIMEKA is going to appear on a MUSIC JAPAN speical that features Anime singers. I heard her dream is to sing in front of Nana. So, I guess she can do it now. It'll air on July 13, 2009. http://pid.nhk.or.jp/event/PPG0027863/ Videos I like the song she's singing. Does anyone know the name of it? Her Japanese has gotten so much better. She wants to record a full album I hope Sony will let her. I doubt it though because the first winner only released 2 singles and I haven't heard anything about him since. But maybe Sony will see the potential she has and let her record an album. And that guys comment. That was cool of him. Lol @ the fan boys. |
