End roll from A BEST

OK, I was reading on wikipedia and I noticed that only A Song for xx, Trust and Depend on you are considered "~new vocal and mix~"
I checked the back cover of A BEST and there it says the same.

But I'm pretty sure that End roll (and maybe Boys & Girls) is re-recorded for A BEST x_x

Can someone enlight this? :3

PS: Sorry if it was a similar thread but my search box dosen't work now -_-

I think that it was End roll and Boys & Girls either got new vocals or new mixes, but they aren't labelled as such because they didn't receive both.

I just checked the Japanese Wikipedia, and apparently Boys & Girls didn't get any adjustments, but End roll certainly did.

Have you ever heard the song?
I agreed about Boys & Girls & End roll because it sounds different from originals one.

Boys & Girls in A BEST have additional guitar tune, it sounds very nice though :D
But for the vocals, i think nothing is different.

End roll sure is different, Ayu vocals has been better in A BEST version, but nothing different with the arrangement, it's still the same (I think).

My conclusion is only End roll had re-recorded but Boys & Girls not.
About tracklisting in the cover, they didn't put ~New Vocal & Mix~ in Boys & Girls & End roll though maybe because the top 3 songs are from A Song for XX album that need re-recorded and Boys & Girls & End roll are from LOVEppears.

Why need re-recorded? I can't find the reason though, but there's my opinion. :D

Yeah, pertaining to this I found this quote by ImpactBreaker:

Boys & girls has a new mix, but old vocals.

Also, she re-recorded the vocals in protest of its release.

Aha, and i also quote this :

02: Trust (04:18) [New Vocal & Mix]
03: Depend on you (04:48) [New Vocal & Mix]
06: Boys & Girls (03:54) [New Mix, unmarked]
08: End roll (04:49) [New Vocal & Mix, unmarked]

So the protest is the reason why the songs re-recorded?
But why? Any possible reason?

End roll and Boys & Girls aren't fully labeled due to the fact that they were just re-recorded or had a new mix at the end, I guess.

Delirium-Zer0 11th October 2009 06:11 PM

End roll definitely has a new mix, the drums are punched up alot, which you can hear very readily when the vocals kick in. Boys & Girls only has a new mix though, while End roll got new vocals as well.

Why they're unlabeled, I'm not sure. Sometimes we get surprises. monochrome & too late on "LOVEppears" have new mixing and aren't labeled as "album version" or "album mix" in the booklet... at the time, it just happened occasionally I guess. Either that or avex was mad she re-recorded the songs and decided to downplay that there was as much new content as there was. Doubtful and kinda stupid, but possible.

As for why she re-recorded them, don't forget that at the time Ayu was angry about A BEST getting released. As devoted to her fans as she was, she wanted to make sure the album purchase wasn't a ripoff, so she re-recorded the songs so there'd be a reason to buy it.

^I noticed that too. The drums stand out much more in this one, even more than the keyboard. But that's the only difference in the mix, they haven't changed the arrangement at all. But it obviously HAS been re-recorded, with new vocals as well. Maybe the reason its unlabeled is because the arrangement is still pretty much the same?

Delirium-Zer0 11th October 2009 07:33 PM

The arrangement for Trust is nearly identical as well, and the arrangements of A Song for XX and Depend on you have only really minor changes. (The arrangement of A Song for XX actually seems to have been taken from the MILLENNIUM MIX from LOVEppears, so technically that arrangement was nothing new either.)

But they were labeled as "new mix", not "remix" or "new arrangement." "End roll" is just as different as any of the three labeled reversions, my guess is it was a last-minute decision to rerecord it.

Hmmm, interesting replies. I was always thought why End roll and Boys & Girls were left out and the only ones labeled were the songs from the ASFXX album.

I was thinking that they just missed these songs (not being from ASFXX era) and Ayu did it at the very last moment and so.

Anyway, thanks all ^^

If it was so, it has been a greta idea.
i like the original one but the a-best recording is much better and harmonic.

Anyway they should declare it was re-recorded, the differences are huge.
