Yoshiki Says X Japan Will Play Lollapolooza 2010

Excerpt:

X Japan drummer and band leader Yoshiki confirmed yesterday that they will play the main stage at the Lollapalooza rock festival in August. The event, at Grant Park in Chicago from August 6-8, will be the band's first concert performance in the U.S. They recently spent over ¥500 million ($5.5 million) shooting some promotional videos in Hollywood, which in itself was something of a dream come true for Yoshiki. A voting member of the Recording Academy and based in Los Angeles, he was at the Grammys at the weekend and broke the news to the press. If true, X Japan will be the first Japanese artists to perform on the main stage at Lollapalooza, though sources say the details are "almost" complete and, contrary to some Internet rumors, they won't be headlining.

it would be handsome for x japan , however i was expecting a tour in US ( like utada) from them instead of one big concert .

Honestly, this is so far into the future that I will believe it when I see it. Yoshiki seems to change his plans at the drop of a hat.

actually its not like he want to change his plan but yoshiki was sick and had to stop the tour to rest .its not like he doesnt want to play. music is his life . he put all his passion and heart in x japan . i believe in yoshiki !

^ That's just one of several things though. He is notorious for basically speaking too soon and then not following through.

bulmasman 10th February 2010 08:59 PM

^ That's true... he's mantioned at lot of things in the past which have never come to fruition. That's not to say that he doesn't WANT or INTEND to do these shows etc... but something just always seems to break the plans in half.

Still, If they can play this show, even though i won't see it, i will be SO happy!

i know what you mean... when they announce the us tour i was checking ticket master everyday to buy the tickets ....T-T sadly it got cancel .

since hide died it was very hard for yoshiki to do a come back emotionally ( if you notice he always carry hide plush or have hide guitar at the new concerts and pv )
and even though sugizo have been added to the band as an official member sugizo had on his side luna sea come back , his solo carrier and now on top X . its a lot of stuff for one man .
add to that fact that yoshiki got older and he still play like 18 years ago ( which means he get tired faster and more than before ...)

i have a lot of respect for yoshiki because he always been kind to his fan no matter what . he is a great man .

if only he could do a tour in US it would be the most handsome thing ! !( but a very tiring one too for them )

i have always hope x japan will come back with a new album some day ...

^ not to forget Yoshiki has problems with his neck (since 1995 I think) because he has done too much had banging

I think this was a reason why he canceled tours

he is really amazing

I don't like seeing him play drums with a ruff because I think he must have paint when playing.

oh thats actually pretty cool

Yumsushi 14th February 2010 03:27 AM

I really don't know much about their popularity state wise. Do they actually have a significant fanbase other than your average Jrock fan that lines up 18 hours before a show?
