it's odd, but I think elvis is right o.O
it's some sort of an index, called
shisu, I believe:

Quote:
About a daily ranking
The single and the index of daily ranking TOP3 of the album decided to be opened to the public in response to the demand of everybody today.
Sales POS data according to the day from 2200 shops in the whole country was totaled,
and the numerical value open to the public this time made to the index.
A weekly ranking is not a reason that becomes "Total = weekly ranking of one week of daily data" because the sales data such as the event halls through the CD shop of other fax report of 820 shops, the Internet mail order, and the CD shop is finally totaled in addition, and it calculates the number of sheets of the presumption sales. Everything from Monday to Sunday every week is targeted for the total period of a weekly ranking.
I hope about the inquiry in mail.
Moreover, I will assume the second use for the index made public to be strict
prohibition.

Can't really understand much of it, but still, I think the numbers might actually be sales indicators, just that they changed the way they count them or something and changed the name to reflect that it's not really exact reported sales, just presumpted (they surely always were so, but I guess now they decided to point it out better).
