A local court Friday banned a music video by popular female singer Ivy from being broadcast on television, ruling in favor of a Japanese film company that claimed the clip plagiarized scenes from one of its animated films.

The decision comes as an embarrassment to Ivy who had been enjoying the success of her chart-topping single, ``Temptation Sonata,’’ the first song to be released from her second album.

In laying down the broadcast ban on the music video of ``Temptation Sonata,’’ the Seoul Central District Court ruled that a significant part of the clip was similar to scenes from ``Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children,’’ an animated movie created by Japan’s Square-Enix.

``Other than the parts where the singer is dancing with dancers, most of the clip is noticeably similar to scenes from the film Final Fantasy: VII Advent Children,’’ the court said, adding that both pieces share similarities in the appearance of characters, costumes, plot, background and editing.
