They have disappeared off the pop radar, but now it appears that Russian 'lesbian' pop duo t.A.T.u. might be making their way onto the big screen.
The newsworthy pair, who caused a storm when they burst onto the scene a few years ago before quietly slipping away, have been developing a film for some time.
Now, website Tatu.ru suggests that the project is ready to go, to be directed by legendary director Roland Joffe.
The movie revolves around a true story involving two female fans of the band who wanted to run away to Moscow and in the process of doing so, accidentally killed one of their mothers. They subsequently went to prison, where they asked to be housed together.
The band will play themselves, in the tale that echoes the plot of Kate Winslet's breakout film Heavenly Creatures.
The movie will be shot in Russia and America and will be in English, rather than subtitled. No other cast has so far been announced.
