I agreee to an extent. I'm not hoping for her to go into Hip-Hop or something like that, but it's almost like she was doing more with the music herself before (ie. the I am... era when she actually composed some of the album's best tracks). She's barely done that at all recently, although I sincerely appreciate the fact that she has NEVER handed over lyric writing to someone else. That is something I certainly appreciate, as that I'm sure becomes increasingly difficult with more and more songs out.

It's hard to say she hasn't branched out in recent years though in terms of genre. It almost seems like an entirely different artist when listening to say...Duty, than when listening to (miss)understood. Her genre shifts rapidly at times and it isn't like she hasn't merged into other styles of music. I mean, look at alterna, kiss o' kill, and Ladies Night. They're drastically different than the typical Boys & Girls or BLUE BIRD. Hopefully this makes sense to someone else besides me
