A college student in South Korea has been sentenced to 6 months in prison after he was caught blackmailing BoA and SM Entertainment over BoA's private pictures and email exchange with Danny Ahn, a member of now-disbanded boyband g.o.d.

According to NoCut News, the pictures and emails in question come from BoA's personal webpage, which was hacked by the blackmailer.

He reportedly demanded 35 million Korean won (approximately US$38,000) initially, but even after SM Entertainment paid the asked amount he demanded further 65 million won, at which point SM Entertainment reported the case to the police.

In a press release, SM Entertainment claimed that the blackmailer threatened to spread the pictures around the internet with false stories behind it, which would have gravely damaged BoA's image.

Yikes.. BoA wouldn't be able to afford having her image damaged. But then again, it would damage any artist's image.
