So in other words, you guys think that Hikki is tryin' too hard....to make her voice noticable???

It's just a personal point of view, but I dun think you will love the old ayu songs. I will use RAINBOW as a separation between her old and new songs era. Her recent music is so different compared to her old ones. To be honest I dun feel her soul within today's music at this moment. Not that I hate the songs (actually I like the songs in Secret), but she doesn't have magic like before...

Yea, Secret was good but I felt is was sorta underrated....like she wasn't given her props for her hard work on it. I agree with you on Ayu not really putting her soul in her songs. It's like she's been fully influenced by AVEX now.
WHAT HAPPENED TO AYU THAT WAS IN "OURSELVES," RIPPING UP THE A BEST PICS OR THE AYU WHO WANTED TO TALK MARIA....I WANT THAT AYU BACK! ToT

I know I'm going through that stage again... During her I am... to RAINBOW era, I didn't really listen to ayu music at all. Yes I still played her music, but not like 20 times a day in her LOVEppears/Duty era. Then I overcame this situation when she released &. Now it's coming to a point that I dun play her music that often. (To tell you the truth.. I dun even know if I have heard talkin' 2 myself for more than 50 times since the release). But I guess now I've come to a point that I will buy her album anywayz no matter what (as I didn't buy I am...).

Yea, me neither...but I still like her today songs like Startin'....that was the song that me into Ayu....no lie! XD That song is second most played song in my ipod...even above Hikki! XDDD As for her LOVEppears/Duty era, I hadn't even listened to them. Idk...it just seems like that era was boring!

Prove me wrong though! XD

On the other hand... I dunno.. hikki's changing music so often as well, but somehow I feel like her songs have soul... The only period I forced myself to listen to her music is during the release of the Distance album. Once FINAL DISTANCE came out I was back to her music again..
|
You were forced?! XD Well, by me being such a big R&B fan, I had no problem with Distance. Addicted to You, Wait and See, and Can You Keep a Secret kept me entertained until I heard the whlole album. I wasn't blown away but it was hella good. The only song on there that really just blew me away was Drama. Hikki sanged her soul out on that song! Bleh...but in Deep River, she didn't live that up to expectation when she made Uso whatever I Love You!
Final Distance was so emotional that I almost cried when I heared it and PV didn't make any better. The PV was so so so....I can't find the word but I LUV that PV. I was surprised that MS didn't put that on their emotional songs list when had that 3 hour special last week or so. Flavor of Life was number nonetheless......FoL is not better than FD....c'mon now! XD

Edit: I think I went a bit off again LOL. I quoted your message because I wanna talk about how wonderful ayu's songs during LOVEppears/Duty era.. But mind you, her music was much darker during that era. It would be hard to love her old works all of the sudden if you haven't listened to them yet.

That was what someone else told on another forum...that I might not like ayu's older songs. But I listened to
Trust and
Depend on You and Idk...but she didn't sound sad to me!

Sora: Here's my review of First Love:
1.
Automatic - This song is the true queen of J-r&b songs! Take that Namie! XD (J/K) I WILL EVER BE IN LOVE WITH THIS SONG!
2.
Movin' on Without You - Hmmm...it's a good dance song but nothing special....The PV wasn't good either!

I prefer her UU06 version of it!!!
3.
In My Room - I LUV IT! I LUV IT! I LUV IT! At first I didn't listen to it as much but then one day, I just decided to listen to it since I really have the urge to listen to any other Hikki song and viola......I fell in luv with it like that. I felt that this song definitely should have had a PV it! My....why didn't EMI make this a single...I'll never know!!!!
4.
First Love - Although it's a very good ballad, it's kinda boring to me. This was on of my first Hikki songs, I really didn't listen to it as much and I still don't.....I like the PV though. Ummm.....I don't know why but I
THINK THAT THIS SONG'S MELODY IS THE SAME MELODY OF ONE OF CEALINE DION'S SONGS!!!
5.
Paint It ~Black~ - I LUV this song too. It's a good danced cheorgraphy song...if it was a made into a pv, than Hikki would have definitly needed to do a dance rountine to this song.
6.
Time Will Tell- I JUST finished listening to this song. It's a really good karaoke song....I sing to it every time. The Dub's version was okay but I like the original version better.
7.
Never Let Go - I don't listen to as much as did when I first heard the song. It's good....the melody made me think of Monica an Brandy (the singers) because it's seems like a song that those two would have made back in the day.
8.
B&C- "Check Out MY Comment on Never Let Go!!!" XD
9.
Another Chance - The chorus is really catchy.....I caught my singing it several times plus the melody is hard to get of you head too. XD
10.
Interlude - Nice vocals Hikki used (of what you could hear) XD. I think she should have not made this into a song though...I didn't like it.
11.
Give Me A Reason - I LUV this song. Again, I has a nice melody and it's relaxing too. Sometimes, I listen to this song to put me to sleep! XD The chorus IS catchy and hard to get out of your head. You'll definitly catch yourself singing it too!
12.
Automatic (Johnny Vicious Remix) -
WILL SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHY HER REMIX SONGS ARE SOOOO UNDERRATED??? I LUV LUV LUV this remix! It's definitely catchy, dancy, and you'll be putting it on repeat most of the time. Hikki has the best remixes to her songs......maybe she have done like Ayu and made a REMIX album because her remixes are hella good and crazy!
Overall: 5/5! The album is impressive. It's a must-listen to and if your crazy Hikki fan, than you'll definitely have or try to have this about in you Hikki collection!

I BET YOU GUYS HATE ME FOR MAKING THIS LOOOONG POST...
