I don't think it's that even, he chased
her down until he convinced her to sign up for the project, she wasn't exactly begging to be famous, he actually had to chase her down. She brought him a lot more that he brought her, she writes her own songs and made her persona which made people like her. He benefited (all of Avex) benefited from the huge profits she brought back to the company. It would have been even if Ayu would have been dying for the opportunity and Max would have given it to her, but it was never liked that.
