I flipped them and decreased size in Photoshop. The DPI I used switched from 1200, 900, then finally 800DPI. [Dots per inch, determines pixels]~ And the scanner seemed to do some sort of unsharp mask when I scanned them in.

The scanner I use is an EPSON CX3200 All In One. I'd get a better one if I were you though. This one is pretty old.
