No, I'm not saying they are not selling bad back then. What I mean is that there's always a moment a particular group outsells the others. Boybands didn't sell bad (and in fact their sales have been quite consistent), but the girls just outold them back then. I wouldn't say the females dominated the chart (like took all yearly top 10 spaces), but usually those top 3 positions were occupied by artists like hikki, ayu, or mai, misia, ringo, momosu, etc (esp hikki and ayu).
So I hope that some female artists (or even a more serious male / male duo) will pound those boybands soon... (well it'll be excellent if those females will be hikki and ayu again LOL)
