That's what I plan on doing as well - there's no point in me watching the 3.5 hour-long (or however long it said, I've forgotten now) documentary if I can't even understand it...well, except for practicing my almost-non-existent japanese skills.
I really hope the Overseas version comes out very soon afterwards and isn't much more expensive.
And I hope someone in the threads will post when it comes out.
