Most R&B today is one-hit-wonder drivel.

Rainbow is also one of her worst CDs, IMO. It was SUCHHHHH a huge drop after Butterfly, which was easily her best. Half of Rainbow's tracks sound like used up demos rejected by Destiny's Child. And Charmbracelet, as much as I loved "Boy" and a few others, sounded like something you'd expect Toni Braxton or some other washed-up adult-contemporary R&B singer to make. E=MC2 sounds like a half-step backwards to me, but I'm not mad at her. She's taking this hip-hop thing a little too far, but I still find it really enjoyable.

Oh god, y'all don't even wanna get me started on MC 17 years of fandom right here.
I definitely agree that Rainbow was a huge drop from Butterfly, which is also my favorite album, but I certainly didn't think it was a poor album. It's actually one of my favorites to be entirely honest. I liked that sort of transitional phase when Mariah began to have R&B influences, but still remained true to her roots (which I believe she did from Butterfly-Charmbracelet). Once she hit Emancipation, I just lost her because that really just is not my type of music, and it certainly isn't what made me a Mariah fan. So that's why I liked it much less than yes, even Glitter (which I don't consider a real album anyways, but that's just my opinion). I guess if you excluded Glitter from my previous post, then my order might seem a little more reasonable. Charmbracelet was actually pretty close to Rainbow in terms of how much I liked it. Rainbow seemed to skip around a bit while Charmbracelet seemed a little more steady to me. But it didn't have as many fantastic songs as Rainbow did.

Anyways, I do think E=MC2 will be better than Emancipation, so at least she's going up slightly in my book. Still, it isn't what I would like her to be doing, but I'll always love the woman at the very least for what she did in her past.

Haha, now you've got me listening to her music again
