Why no males? Korean music right now has a lot more great male artists than female. Still, here are three of the most popular female acts in Korea right now, along with some recommended tracks by each.
소녀시대 Sonyô Shidae (Girl's Generation) is pretty well-known now, too. Think Morning Musume, but with serious, Korean talent. They're basically the female answer to Super Junior. Their sound is very girly, cutesy, bubblegum dance-pop.
Recommended: 소녀시대 (Girls' Generation); Kissing you; Merry-go-round; Honey (소원); 다시 만난 세계 (Into the new world)
Wonder Girls are very, very popular right now. 5 cheeky girls, much edgier than Sonyô Shidae. They're produced by JYP who basically made Rain who he is. Their style is very R&B and urban dance, sometimes a little bit 80's synth-poppy.
Recommended: 이바보; Tell Me; Good Bye; Bad Boy; Irony
天上智喜 The Grace Ch'ôn Sang Ji Hûi The Grace (TSZX The Grace) is fantastic. It's made up of four girls with powerhouse voices who each did their own thing before being put together. Their vocals blow everyone else out of the water. Their sound is generally R&B- or soul-influenced pop, reminiscent of BoA's Korean work.
Recommended: 한번 더, OK? ― One More Time, OK?; 女友 (그녀들의 수다) ― Girl Talk; RENEW (사랑할 땐, 좋아할 땐); 4월의 첫날 ― April Fools' Day; 열정 My Everything; Catch the shooting star; The Club (Feat. 비); Boomerang; Dancer In The Rain; 아니기를 ― Not To Be
