The first Asian artist I ever listened to was Lee Jung Hyun, who I had discovered when looking up information about Korean music online after going to a store at the mall (now closed) that sold all sorts of Korean toys, stationary, and CD's. I had been curious about the music but didn't want to buy a CD without knowing what the artists sounded like. I found LJH on YesAsia because I really liked electronic/dance music (and still do), and eventually ordered her first four albums from Annyoung because the store at the mall didn't have any of her stuff. I haven't really listened to any more K-pop since, though.

As for J-music, I got into some Shibuya-kei and Japanese trip-hop (ACO and Cibo Matto) because my tastes naturally led me there. I decided to check out J-pop after randomly finding the Time magazine profile on Ayumi Hamasaki. After Ayu, I soon discovered that I liked Namie Amuro, Utada Hikaru, Otsuka Ai, and Suzuki Ami.

The only Chinese music that I've listened to is Jolin Tsai, but I liked it and wouldn't mind finding more.
