You can just look at interviews - for an instance, that one where Ayu talked about why she named Secret that, how the theme of the album really was secrets, not as in things you don't tell people, but as in sides of you few people know (or something like that?). I also believe there was an interview where she talked about how when she finished GUILTY, she felt differently from when she recorded most of her albums, and that the feeling was similar to what she felt after finishing Duty (that's maybe why both covers have the leopard pattern present).
GUILTY was named that way for a reason, it has a theme, a purpose, tells a story. Carrying a song from it over to the next album would be totally awkward.
As for buying singles and not albums, I don't really understand your point o__o; not saying it's wrong, I just really don't understand it lol. To me, what you buy was always simply a matter of how much money you're willing to spend. You can obivously still listen to MW if it's not in an album, and you can obviously still listen to it even if you don't buy the single... except maybe you can't listen to it outside the computer, but even in that case, it's really easy to download a FLAC version of the single a burn a copy if it's needed.
There are times when I feel I'd like certain singles and B-sides to be placed in an album, but mostly because I feel they'd just sound right together, or because I think a song has potential but can't stand on it's own, so it should be placed among others to sound the best. Not because I want to listen to that song, an album is a lot more than just a song, more than just a group of songs o____o; With MW, even a person who wouldn't be bothered if it were placed in an album, I don't see why they'd actually feel like it fits in there, actually "want" for it to be there...
When I say we'd probably get an album identical to GUILTY, I really mean it, I'm not talking just about the genre~
Unless, of course, Ayu starts making full versions of all her introductions and interludes to make an album based around that concept. In that case, MW being placed there would make absolute sense, clearly. But I don't see how it would be good otherwise.
