In 2006, Hata released his debut single SYNCRO, which received considerable airplay. He then put out first mini-album, Bokura wo Tsunagu Mono in 2007, with a few singles later. His latest single, Niji ga Kieta Hi, is his highest charting single, debuting at #13. He also just won the MTV Japan VMA for "Best New Artist"!
