I see what you're saying, but I think this fault lies mostly on the photographer - right? I'm not sure how photography works, especially when modeling and photoshoots are involved, and if said model has any input into what she does, where she does it and how the photos come out in terms of what they 'mean' but this IS Ayu, so... It's to be expected that she'd have a hand in it, heh.
I personally would like the shoot, if this turns out to be true, to reflect her branching out into Asia for the past year. She wouldn't have to do stereotypical things reflecting the countries she's visited but just something that represents them, you know? Or at least embodies them in a way that makes it seem like Ayu is embracing the countries that have embraced her.
