I had a period where I just couldn't get into Japanese (or Asian, for that matter) music. So I took a break, listened to American R&B, and thought I was set. Then Utada Hikaru came out with HEART STATION, and I listened to the full album as an album - not expecting anything - and came out as a born-again fan of Japanese pop.

I recommend listening to new artists, or old artists you once dismissed.
