If they were in it for the fame, I think I'd understand more. Why people go out of their way to be hostile is just... amazing (in a bad way) to me. I just don't understand that mentality. Is it really THAT hard to be polite & civil? I could even understand just bonding with someone over "You don't like ayu either? Man, I HATE her." But to go out of your way to invent a rumor, and go through the trouble of spreading it all over the internet?
That just confuses me o_O
And yeah, I was angry when I heard about it back in '02. I hadn't seen the concert yet, so at first I was just like "omg, poor ayu! how embarrassing!" Cuz by then I knew she wouldn't insult a handicapped person on purpose, she's not that malicious. She (at the time at least) was a bit ditzy at times and I could understand her putting her foot in her mouth. Honest mistake though. But time went by and she didn't dignify the rumor with a response, so I knew nothing probably really happened (and later on I finally saw the video of it, so I knew FOR SURE that nothing had happened). But even after the TV version of the concert was spread around, with the event in question, the rumor still persisted. It was a weeeiiird time to be an ayu fan - anti-ayu people kept coming into forums & chat rooms to start the fire back up again.
Luckily it's died down, of course, but people do still hear about it & wonder about it, obviously.
