It doesn't matter if they were promoting it or not, they liked what they liked. She's been in Japan many times and she was bound to get exposed to her music. She was prolly introduced to J-pop by someone or she coulda found out about herself while there. We'll never know but I think she was being herself when she said she liked Kuu and Ayu.
