The scratchiness looks to me to be very unnatural, it almost looks like it was added via a filter or in photoshop.

But while we're on the topic, Mika Noguchi is a (part-time, but still) professional photographer as well who knows very well what she's doing. One look at her blog can tell you that, every photo she takes for it looks spectacular for a candid. She also shot the "Trust Me" wacoal photos.
Yea I know, that's why I wrote the booklet.

To me, all of the distortion looks natural, especially if you look at the area at her left cheekbone where her hair is.

Looking at the booklet, the pictures don't really strike me as that good, as if by a professional photographer, but ok. I was surprised when the behind the scenes of the Trust Me campaign came out and you could see Mika with a professional camera.
