I really like the first two minutes of it (even though Ayu bouncing up and down makes me sooo dizzy). As soon as we get to Ayu on stage though... it completely falls apart. I kind of agree, although the greatness of the costumes and sets kind of mask that. But that is due to a talented set decorator and costumer, not the director. The director did make some strange choices in the video such as after it switched the the red dress, he then went back and used a shot of her in the white one again which kinda broke the flow and didn't really make sense. Also I'm not sure why Midoring was out in the audience and then suddenly on stage with Ayu. If Midoring is supposed to be portraying a dancer, then she wouldn't be out in the audience to begin with.
btw, Ayu's facial expressions at least managed to avoid MW badness here - I was on the edge of my seat for the whole walking through the streets scene though.
btw, does the begining remind anyone else of MW? Where you just hear footsteps and there are some random first person shots of someone walking down an alley? Maybe being a Chinese singer in the 30s is spy Ayu's next identity. haha
