And the thing about the compilation albums can be said about other 3 from the list.
EXILE released 3 compilations, B'z released 2 and ayu and namie only 1.
Excluding those compilations non of them would be that high =P
(And for the record AC sold better than EXILE ENTERTAINMENT BEST)..

I just explained why profit and sales are different things. Ayumi had total higher money earnings because she had 7 releases, 2 of which were dvds (which is what was able to give her a money edge because they are more expensive). Whereas Namie had only 3 releases only one of which that really had any promo costs for Avex at all and very minor production costs compared to Ayumi's releases. So, in reality Namie=Avex's most successful and profitable artist this year. (for women at least, no one can touch Exile this year^_^)

No, she is second in EARNINGS. She is last on the list in sales. Which means that a) she released more products this year than everyone but Exile and b) some of her releases were more expensive to buy than the other artists.
sidenote: I wish Arashi had released a best album this year. It's odd to not see the group that holds three positions on the yearly top 10 singles chart not on this list. (including the top two positions)
