Actually... how many countries use the system of release couples of singles first before releasing an album? I really think Japan's the only (bigger) country in Asia doing that way. I know Taiwan and HK don't release singles (and probly Korea as well), but usually the artists promote one new song (or two), then they release the album, then continue to plug more songs on the radio charts.
And UK and US have the same system. So in the end I dun really know if Japan system is actually the "interesting" one. Logically I think Japan system seems cooler because you get chances to listen to couple of songs to determine if the upcoming album suits your taste. Most importantly, I really love the cd cover arts in Japan. They're so attractive compared to those dull US/UK covers
