^ I think it only seems weird to us because around here we tend to just focus on our one or two favorite artists without really paying attention to what else might be going on in Japan. What's huge on AHS isn't always going to be an accurate reflection of whats actually going on in Japan.
For example, most people here could care less about owarai (Japanese comedy) yet comedians take up several spots on this list. Comedians are some of the most popular, powerful, and influential people in the whole country, yet most people here probably could name only 1 or 2 Japanese comedians, if even that.
Notice there is no KATTUN on any list either. Not even any of the individual members. They are another group that I feel is losing a lot of their traction with the general public and is becoming more heavily reliant upon their core fan base.
