Same here, had it not been for J-Rock/Visual Kei I'd never have gotten in love with the rest of japanese music (Kuu and Ayu
).
My first love was Gackt.
Then I discovered more and more bands like Diru, D'espairsRay etc.
But it was easier for me to get into J-Rock/Visual Kei because there is a german record company for J-Rock since 2006.
