I think that they're alternative metal--which, for me, means they aren't your typical metal band (like some western acts: Metallica, Coal Chamber, etc.); they have interesting compositions that normally wouldn't be found in a metal band but they still contain that hard sound. Actually... Diru have had this sound for a while~ you can find traces of it on their second album (Rasetsukoku and Hydra), and as each album came out it progressed more and more. I think TMOAB was just their take on a western metal/hardcore sound. And album like UROBOROS for example is
definitely alternative metal, because it just doesn't fit into any preconceived notion or example of metal. It's entirely Diru's own.
