No, appearance doesn't matter at all to me (as in wether the artist is ugly/pretty by common standards) but personality matters really much to me, because it's like, music IS the artist.
So in example: if an artist is cocky, self-centered and disrespectful towards other people it will most likely reflect on the music (assuming the artist is pretty much in control over the music, esp. lyrics). If the artist is open-minded, genuine and innovative it will reflect in the music.
