I love Yu's debut album and don't really think her music is that different from Meisa's. In fact, if you were to compare album credits, you'd see that she actually works with some of the same people.

Oh you guys didn't get it? Sorry, I thought it was obvious, guess not, lol. I think it's basically because of three reasons:
1. Sony's inability to promote her sufficiently- Kuroki, surrisingly, is being promoted much more than her. For example that Vodka Ad.
2. Yamada herself, considers her music career as a side-career behind acting, like you guys just mentioned. It showed that she too, is not putting as much emphasis on her music either: leading to slow releases etc etc which makes her a forgettable artsit unlike Kuroki, who's releasing much faster
3. She doesn't show enough skin!!!

(kidding!)
I don't know whether her acting or her dating has affected her sales but these were the three obvious points I could see.
