i understand what you meant, that's why i said to look at it at a different angle.
sales don't necessarily equal popularity either, though. excluding the stans who buy everything just to support their idols, usually people buy music based on whether or not they like the sound and not the artist. kind of like how i don't really care for boa but i bought her debut album because i liked the music.
however being unpopular in the public's eye really
can hurt your sales, regardless of how catchy your music is.
