Of course they know, but they are happy with what they have because they don't know what to do with her. She can sing good ballads and she can dance. So they focus on that. All her music at any point of her career is like that. BoA's music hasn't been progressing for a while. She's entered her twenties and she was still doing cutesy pop music(Brand New Beat). She still operates with the same formula that made her popular. Eien was different but didn't work. She's done sexy, the usual marketing trick, and that didn't work. Now she cut her hair because the first time she 'did' it, people paid attention.
What do you want her to do?
