I've read all about this somewhere else quite a while ago. If I remember correctly, Ayu's father left when she was very young, so she didn't really know him. She never got to have a relationship. Hence the lyric's: "You became a star by yourself" and "I wish I could have heard from you, that I had certainly been loved by you"
