But like Keiichi said, in Hikki's case of EXODUS v. DEEP RIVER and HEART STATION v. TiTO, language definitely did play a factor.

Let's just talk about EXODUS and TiTO and leave her Japanese albums aside. The language did play a factor (I might've sounded as if it totally didn't, but that wasn't the point...
I only wanted to point that the decline from EXODUS to TiTO didn't have a thing to do with the language as both the albums are in English). The fact is her sales also dropped by millions.
The economy isn't always the one to blame for people loosing interest. And whatever you might think I am positive both Ayu and Hikki are not as popular as they used to be with the general public. Hikki seems to be on better terms when it comes to pop stuff that people like and Ayu has a more hardcore fan base.
