I used B'z as an example because you said Ayu didn't need a tie in to sell well. B'z single sales last year are comprable to Ayu's - in fact they only had one single last year and it just barely outsold Ayu's last year. So if Ayu's non tied in drama singles are considered selling well enough, then B'z sales as well should also be considered selling well enough is what I mean.
But just like many artists that don't need a tie in to sell well, the tie in - if good - can make it sell a lot more. Don't know if how I just explained it made any sense though.
