Yes, as I know as well from personal experience, it is different being there. Especially the vocals can sometimes be quite difficult to judge because everything is just so loud. You are more likely to get wrapped up in the moment overall and forgive any flaws because you are just there to try and have a good time.

But that also doesn't mean that it can't be better, even for the people that are actually at the show.
If this were a non-DVD release type of thing I could see only performing for the fans that are there at the show, but way more people see the show on DVD and not live (or on tv as well in this case) and that audience needs to be taken into account as well otherwise the DVD sales will go down.
