Many people just want one song or the other and don't really care for an instrumental or remix so lets say someone just wants You were...; well she'll only have to spend 1/5 of the amount it would take to buy the CD only version.
Years ago when digital downloading was much unheard of people had to buy the actual CD to get the music they wanted and that's one reason why over all sales for everyone has dropped.
