Like someone mentioned earlier on this thread, GReeeeN's singles for Shio, Kosho sold really poorly and the album broke 1 million. And I was shocked when I found out that Namie's WILD/Dr. sold no more than 120k when she's at her 2nd peak, and her new album is doing great... obivously Ayu's current popularity doesn't compare to either of theirs right now and her album sales have been going down as well, but single sales seem to be getting harder and harder to predict...
(I'm still a bit disappointed, since I wanted this single to at least break 150k, which doesn't seem very likely )

This is a good point, and it's very well possible. In a lot of places now, singles pretty much don't exist anymore. :\ Maybe Japan finally decided they're sick of them as well? It's just hard to tell with the economy. And also, in Japan, singles are a very delicate thing. It's either a great hit or pretty much a total miss, and tie-ins are essential 90% of the time, at least. And of course, popularity drives much of the sales, even more so than they do with albums. Afterall, for almost everybody and in almost every situation, only the big fans are preordering singles these days; some artists have to rely on hardcore fans to buy at all.
Anyhow...... Gawd, below Gackt??

I mean, she's sure to get another number one, and it will definitely hit 100K, but....Why such a drastic drop???? I know it's been a major holiday week and everything, but it's just so large. Well, maybe she'll go back up a bit next week? Or at least keep steady for a while? That's all I ask.
