dont kill me . . .
i think asian music has gone down just as western music. but thats for me. frankly i dont like boy bands (that was so 6-yrs old). too generic and redundant. i dont see how anyone finds them so much more unique than western music. in japan specifically johnny's bands have developed their own set of genericness and i cant stand listening to them now. Kana Nishino, JuJu, and these other girls fit into the same category of extreme likeness. then theres artists that are sooo sweet and natural like ayaka. and then theres Hello Project. like whenever i see oricon it frustrates me and i wonder why people think all of this is soooo unique and ultra talented and just oh fantasmic. in jpop i have to look to specific artists who do actually stand out and produce something thats truly touching truly worth listening to. even BoA i tire of. she goes into rap category for me. i can only enjoy when im at a party dancing. same with lots of Namie and Kuu. even those who praise hikkis older works. its like wtf?
but i realize. if one doesnt like american generic then they like asian or japanese generic.
i dont see why people diss western music for lack of originality. and praise asian music for it. i guess if u add love and sad and inspiring lyrics then people like u more. but when im at a party. i will be all for western hip hop.
but then again. me, i have specific taste in music that never seem to match anyone elses sadly. the only thing i give asian music in general over western is lyrics.
