I think Lady GaGa did fine
She definitely looked awkward, but I totally understand why she would be that way. Translation is hard, and she might've been afraid of saying something offhand. Although her look is very out there and strange, I've never heard her say anything disrespectful to others. Then again, I'm a casual fan of hers so I don't follow up on scandals or anything. She might've been nervous about saying something that could be considered offensive to the Japanese as well, just speculating on my part.
