I can definetely understand where you're coming from. I even told my parents how Ayu's last album was number one on the world charts, lol. For me personally, it's not a necessity but it does have a nice ring to it to be able to say, "Ayumi was the top selling artist in the world with her last album" or "This girl keeps coming out with one #1 hit single after another", lol. I'm not going to lie, it definetely sounds really good!
