imo, the black goo is the ink for she used all over her life writing lyrics.. i mean the whole life of being an artist. at that time being an artist gave her a lot of troubles and make her feel down sometimes..
and for the scene with cocoa, i think, it's the only thing that can make her happy when she was alone..
