I remember back in the Spring of 2009 when we got news, can't remember the source, that Utada was in the process of creating a Japanese Song. Stated how she was either writing it, or had written it and would be going into Studio to sing it.
Time passed and many assumed she had completed the song and was just waiting for the right time to put it out.
At one point I myself thought she had a song completely finished and ready to put out, but I can't believe she'd wait over a year to put out something she sung so long ago because she'd more than likely go on live television to promote and I don't think she'd want to have to teach herself the song again and risk not matching the Studio version in her live performances as closely as possible.
She probably has written material, but no Studio stuff from last year.
