Generally, singles like that aren't as much meant for their own succes, but more as a booster for the album.
Also, imagine them being placed together on a stand. "OMFG NEW MIKA NAKASHIMA ALBUM, GOTTA GET THAT. Hey, what's that? New single? Might as well get that one, now that I'm spending money anyway"
