It's the arrangement. He added in an extra top percussion layer. Very subtle, but obviously noticeable, especially if you have any type of decent equipment.
And the little clicking sounds in between are really noticeable in the rest of the song...they just lowered them down here, and added this "noise" at the beginning of the phrase.

hmm if that's so then it's probably part of the arrangement/composition... it's just pretty weird how these extra sounds clash with the main music that they seem like a mistake lol; I understand clash chords but this is like another story
