As you said, it is actually really useless to have all this stuff, because these things do not really have a "beneficing" for you (I hope it is the right word ^^°). For example, I collected something for like eight years, then I finally came to the view, that all this stuff has literally NO USE for me and my life, so I sold it all and got at least $1000 back from it (though I paid much more during my time as a collector).
I don't mean to say you are gonna sell your stuff, just wanted to let you know my very own experience regarding that topic. I think many people collect stuff during their "early years" and as an adult (in my case I was like 20) some of them are recognizing that they actually do not need all this bunch of material stuff.
